i went for a walk/wander the other day and ended up at strøget, the network of pedestrian streets in the centre of copenhagen.
this network is the result of an eventual accretion of reclaimed spaces. the pedestrian network in copenhagen has expanded from ~15,000m2 to ~100,000m2 over the last few decades (not to mention every single street is ‘complete’).
there are so many other things to say about the notions intrinsic to the actions that have created these spaces, and, the spaces themselves. however, i think it best to let the images tell their story.
